LACTATION CONSULTATIONS (IN-HOME & OFFICE)

It's essential to become educated on the foundations of breastfeeding BEFORE you start feeding your baby. You can learn the basics of breastfeeding in the comfort of your own home through our in-home lactation services provided by an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), who will answer all of your questions. If you are in South New Jersey, Philadelphia, or the Greater Philadelphia area, we will come to you! Our breastfeeding support topics include: Positions & Latch, Comfort & Attachment, How to know if baby is getting enough milk, Initiation & Maintenance of Supply, Troubleshooting Common Challenges, Hand Expression & Pumping, Paced Bottle Feeding, and more! We also offer valuable educational resources through our lactation consultations.

Congratulations on the arrival of your new little one! Breastfeeding a newborn can feel overwhelming, but with the right breastfeeding support, it doesn’t have to be stressful or painful. As you embark on your journey into parenthood, it’s common to have uncertain feelings. Our in-home lactation services provide next-day help from our Lactation Consultant. During your New Baby visit, we will (when applicable):

- Discuss latch, positioning, and hunger cues

- Conduct a weighted feed to assess milk transfer

- Address issues of under/oversupply and supplementation

- Assess breasts for pain, plugged ducts, and infant oral function

- Provide guidance on hand expression and pumping

- Introduce feeding tools such as SNS, syringe, nipple shield, and bottles

- Create a personalized plan to address your concerns and routine

- Follow up with a 30-minute phone call

Breastfeeding has been going great, but now an issue has come up and you need some guidance. Our in-home lactation services provide the breastfeeding support you may need to tackle those challenges. You might require assistance with: plugged ducts, mastitis, oversupply, supply going down, pain, weaning, night weaning (9+ months), pumping, starting solids, or a combination of breast and bottle feeding. Our lactation consultations can help you navigate these concerns effectively.

Preparing to leave your baby to return to work or school can seem daunting, but it doesn't have to be! Our in-home lactation services provide the breastfeeding support you need with an individualized plan tailored for your family. During our lactation consultations, we will cover: pumping, flange fitting, and storing milk; paced bottle feeding; your rights as an employee; the role of other caregivers; maintaining and increasing your milk supply; and troubleshooting bottle refusal. Additionally, we offer a follow-up 30-minute phone call to ensure you feel supported.
